A TRULY SPECTACULAR SHOW IN PAROS, GREECE FOR THE FINAL ! The finals of the Kiteboard Pro World Cup 2006 Paros event were run on Saturday with a truly spectacular show between 12.00 and 15.35, broadcasted live from the TV sponsor, SuperSport. The start of the Speed Crossing as the first event was visually remarkable as all the riders took off together for a breathtaking 5 tours around the track followed by 5 onshore cameras and one helicopter camera. The conditions were good to go for the race as Vincent Tiger (FRA) and Claudine Podvin (FRA) stood to the finish line in first place ahead of the others. Right after the podium ceremony, it was time for the Best Trick competition to begin as Sebastien Garat (FRA) and Julie Simsar (TUR) came out to be the winners with the judges’ best selection of their coolest tricks. As for the Hang Time competition that trailed the Best Trick session, it was time for the globally acclaimed big air master, Thomas Cocquelet (FRA) to take over and show the crowd some amazingly high jumps along with Claudine Podvin (FRA) for the ladies. The men’s and women’s freestyle finals marked the last sessions of the live broadcast show with Mikael Fernandez (FRA) displaying some real power moves as Mob 10, freestyle slim chance etc. while the young Spanish rider, Gisela Pulido (SPA), lead the freestyle competition for the women with superbly stylish tricks as handlepass, railey to blind and more. The Kiteboard Pro World Cup 2006 Paros event will come to an end on Sunday evening with the Closing Ceremony that will be hosting the riders and the organization memebers with the Grand Award Ceremony, Beach Barbeque, Pounda Beach Party, and fireworks. 2006 Kiteboard Pro World Tour – since 1999
The Essaouira Mogador Association, principal cultural catalyst of the city of Essaouira, and Abdeslem Bekrate, the Governor of the Province of Essaouira, are honored to announce the Essaouira Kiteboard World Cup, to be held from the 21st to the 26th of July 2006. Reigistration Riders the 20th July. Press conference 20th July at 7pm.
Thanks to its partners, the Municipal Council of the City of Essaouira, the Association of Surfers and Fly surfers of Essaouira, Athlete21, and in association with the professional kiteboard tour, KPWT, Essaouira joins the 2006 KPWT world tour with other locations that will host events, such as Lake Como Italy, Turkey, Istambul among others. This major sporting event will host 50 professional athletes from around the world, in both women’s and men’s categories. Among the top seeds expected to compete are World Champions Thomas Coquelet and Gisela Pulido; the Essaouira-born Soufiane Hamaini, 4rth overall in 2004; and other challengers . · Accomodation facilities on site : Ryad Mogador 4* Hotel : This haven of peace is only 300 metres from the sea and event site and is surrounded by greenery and the nearby woods just on the edge of the town.
